Teaching Philosophy

I am dedicated to providing my students with an environment they will not only succeed but thrive in. No one teaching style works for everyone and I fully embrace the unique learning styles of my students. Each session is tailored to the specific needs of the student to help them reach their individualized goals. In addition to these personalized goals students will build and learn the many fundamentals of the trumpet and find their pure and authentic sound.

Effortless Playing

It is important to me that we learn how to make the hard stuff sound easy. I work everyday to make my own playing more effortless and efficient so that I can pass that knowledge on to my students. I'm constantly experimenting with ideas and techniques and encourage my students to do the same. Keeping yourself curious is key to making the trumpet sound and feel effortless.

Keeping it Simple

At the core of my teaching philosophy is the idea of keeping it all simple. While there is a time and a place to pick things apart and get to the minutia, that often distracts us from good trumpet playing. One of my main goals for my students is to help train their fundamentals to be second nature so that playing the instrument is simple and easy so we can focus on making great music.
